In 2007, the Year 6 Technology Councillors Luke, Henryk and Kris, were given the challenge of developing a new school internet site under the guidance of Ms Clayton, St Mary’s ICLT Coordinator and Mr Furlong the school’s Principal.
It wasn’t long before many of the other Year 6 student leaders wanted to be involved in developing content for the site. The creativity of St Mary’s students can be seen in the Virtual School Tour and the Podcast in our Student Showcase.
This site was made possible through the generosity of Edward and Josie Breslin, owners of Lateral Systems (www.lateralsystems.com). They provided St Mary’s with access to Lateral Systems’ innovative and simple-to-use content management system. As a result, students have the opportunity not only to develop new content but also to upload it to the website themselves.
In 2008, the new IT captains Dougie, Marcus and Renee are participating in a pilot program for a new digital media club where students can express their creativity and learn new technical skills.
